Tunisia insurance – valid for the current situation?

17 January 2011

The UK Foreign Office is advising against all but essential travel. If you have to go, or have people there already, check your insurance: Tunisia now requires specialist cover.

Ordinary travel insurance, medical insurance or life insurance will normally carry exclusions against war, civil unrest or terrorist activity. If you have standard insurance covering employees in Tunisia during the current civil unrest, you may find that they are not adequately covered.

The UK Foreign Office on Monday 17th January 2011 is advising British nationals as follows:

“We advise British nationals who do not have a pressing need to be in the country to leave Tunisia by commercial means. Whilst still in Tunisia, they should take responsibility for their own security, stay away from demonstrations, exercise caution, and observe instructions given by local security authorities and tour operators.”

Bellwood Prestbury can help to arrange Tunisia insurance including global life and accident insurance and emergency medical evacuation insurance and repatriation insurance that will be valid in the current circumstances.

If you have people who have to travel to Tunisia or people living or working in Tunisia now, call Bellwood Prestbury’s expert team. They will be able to give you an independent assessment of your current insurance and help to ensure you or your people are properly covered: +44 (0) 1242 584 558.
