Pakistan insurance – is your business covered if the risk rating increases?
11 June 2014
This week, Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport became a battleground following an attack by the Pakistani Taliban on one of its terminals. A six-hour battle between security forces and militants ensued, ending with 28 people dead and 26 injured. Now there have been further attacks claimed by the Taliban, this time on a security training base near the airport.
Due to the security threat posed by Islamist militants, Pakistan has been rated as a ‘Severe’ risk for insurance for some time. However this may well be increase to ‘Extreme’ in the light of recent attacks and the consequent updating of Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advice.
Anyone with business interests in Pakistan should review their insurance to make sure that your people and your assets are properly covered in the event of terrorism.
