Italian reporter kidnapped in Syria set free

An Italian journalist who was kidnapped in Syria in April has been freed the Italian government reports.

A veteran war correspondent used to reporting from the front lines, had entered Syria from Lebanon on April 6 and disappeared three days later while travelling to the city of Homs in war-torn Syria. 

The FCO warns there is a very high risk of kidnapping throughout Syria. Kidnappings can be for financial or political gain, and can be motivated by criminality or terrorism. There have been a number of recent kidnappings, including of British nationals and other westerners.
