Insurance premium tax increase - keeping premiums affordable
8 September 2015
The hike in Insurance Premium Tax by more than half, to 9.5%, still leaves the UK relatively better off than most countries. Last year saw France increase its tax level to 14%, Germany’s tax on Health insurance is now running at 19% and the Netherlands at 21%.
Despite an increasing number of countries now making health insurance compulsory for expatriates, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey and with the cost of cover continuing to rise, there are still ways to keep premiums affordable.
