Deadline approaches for Dubai health insurance

29 March 2017

Dubai residents who fail to secure mandatory health insurance cover before 1 April will face a fine of AED500 (£109, $136, €126) per month and risk their visa status.

From 1 April, fines are applicable to everyone and all visa types. In addition to the fines, the government will not grant new visas or renew existing visas if the employer or sponsor does not offer health insurance. Whilst most of the population are already covered, the Dubai Health Authority has revealed that there are still sponsors and business owners who have not yet covered their employees and dependents.
