High-risk personal accident insurance for Basra stadium contract
Bellwood Prestbury have provided personal accident insurance cover for managers and grounds staff at UAE-based Support In Sport Middle East, who will be working on the new Basra football stadium being constructed for the 21st Gulf Cup being contested in the Iraqi city in 2013.
Support In Sport Middle East is responsible for laying the playing surface in what is set to be a world-class football stadium, transforming the 1966 Al-Shaab International Stadium into a half a billion dollar sports city, the largest development of its kind ever undertaken in Iraq.
As a Lloyd’s Coverholder, Bellwood Prestbury were able to provide bespoke personal accident insurance, which provides international medical evacuation and repatriation insurance, death and disability cover, with war and terrorism included. This high-risk insurance policy ensures that Support In Sport Middle East is properly protecting its employees should anything happen to them.
The policy is also specifically designed to give Support In Sport Middle East total flexibility. The policy covers a team of up to 14 people; eight people are covered for up to 250 days of the year, activated on a weekly basis, when they are working in Basra. The remaining six simply stop and start their insurance with an email each time they visit the project, ensuring that the firm only pays for cover when they need it, on a daily basis.
David Ball, at Support In Sport Middle East said: “Bellwood Prestbury understood our professional, legal, and contractual needs and have created a flexible policy around our project, saving us money and making administration simple. Their team were responsive, friendly and helpful, and we look forward to working with them on this project and into the future.”
