New requirements for Abu Dhabi health insurance came into force on 27 July 2010, and affect all foreign nationals living and working in the Emirate. Failure to comply could result in hefty fines for employers, Abu Dhabi health insurance providers and individuals.
The Health Authority – Abu Dhabi (HAAD) requirements state that for any businesses operating and employing staff in Abu Dhabi – health insurance is compulsory. These new regulations now place the responsibility for enforcement of the law on the insurer in relation to their Abu Dhabi clients.
