THE ERITREA INSURANCE YOU NEED

Bellwood Prestbury’s experts can give you specialist advice about Eritrea insurance to protect your company’s staff, services, or property in high risk occupations or remote regions.

POSSIBLE PROBLEMS IN ERITREA

Eritrea’s borders with Ethiopia, Djibouti and Sudan are problem areas and should be avoided due to the incidence of violence. In addition, there are extensive minefields, especially near the Ethiopian border. You are advised against driving on non-metalled roads, driving off-road or hiking in the countryside. You should be aware that in many parts of the country, roads are difficult or impassable during the rainy season.

Street crimes such as theft and robbery are relatively rare in Asmara and other cities, although they may be on the increase, particularly in relation to foreign travellers. It’s sensible to take normal safety precautions – don’t walk around any town alone late at night. Keep cameras and passports out of sight and make sure your Eritrea insurance provides cover for any valuables.

Asmara has one private and three public hospitals, but if you travel beyond the large towns, you are advised to carry a comprehensive medical pack. If you take any prescription drugs, make sure you have enough to last you throughout your stay – and your Eritrea insurance should include appropriate medical cover should you need treatment of any kind whilst in the country.
