In a major review of international insurance for a Swiss based mining company, Bellwood Prestbury delivered a $500,000 decrease in premiums without a reduction in benefits for expatriate mining staff working in its copper and cobalt mining operation in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
As an independent international expert specialising in cover for high-risk geographic areas and high-risk occupations, we were ideally placed to perform a complete review of cover. The scope included life (natural causes), accidental death and dismemberment, personal accident, permanent and temporary disablement and medical cover for over 70 expatriates and their dependents.
Our approach was to underwrite the life, disability and personal accident cover direct with Lloyd’s of London, and to negotiate special terms with global insurers Interglobal for medical cover.
